Walton Goggins Tells TV Guide About THAT Kiss on Sons of Anarchy

What did you think of Venus and Tig from the newest episode of Sons of Anarchy? Let me know in the comments, but in the meantime check out what Walton had to say about it to TV Guide!

“Tig was in a place where he needed someone he could depend on and he called for the person who understood him better than anyone,” Goggins says. “Tig instigated [the kiss] and I think it was a line that Venus wasn’t willing to cross in Season 5 with him, but their relationship went in a different direction and they became very close friends. And when intimacy is in the room, more often than not, romance follows, no matter who it is. It’s no different for someone in the LGBT community as it is for a heterosexual. That’s what I thought was so inspiring about that for me.”

Although Goggins admits that Venus was scared at first (“The hesitation was, ‘Oh my God, I have feelings for this guy, and is this really happening? Do I want to cross this line? Because I don’t know if I can stop if I do cross it,'” he says), he says it’s important to understand the bond Tig and Venus share — one that has mostly developed off-screen.

“Wounded people attract wounded people,” Goggins says. “When you have been alone in the world and you find someone who makes you feel less alone in a positive way — regardless if that’s man, a woman or a transgender — that’s the person that you call home. What [creator Kurt Sutter] was able to do was measure it out in significant moments so that you felt the history between these two people and you felt the countless nights they’ve shared a bottle of champagne sitting on Venus’ deck just talking about life. When you have someone who understands your pain and you understand someone else’s pain, that’s what it’s all about.”

And the relationship may not stop there. Goggins will return again in this season’s 10th episode. Can we expect even more intimate moments for Venus and Tig? Whatever happens, it certainly made an impression on Goggins.

“It was the one of the most cathartic, one of the most important things I’ve ever done as an artist in 22 years,” he says. “It was one of those moments that you do this for. It was sublime and what it says about Venus and Tig is as beautiful and poetic as anything I’ve ever seen. You’ll see them in a way you’ve never seen them before.”

First look at Venus Van Dam’s return to ‘Sons of Anarchy’

EW.com — No matter how dark things get on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, just remember that Venus Van Dam is on the way. The transgender escort played by Justified‘s Walton Goggins makes her return in the Sept. 30 episode when SAMCRO, in need of information, pays her a visit. As fans know, the cast lights up any time her name is mentioned, and Goggins feels that each time he steps on set.

“I really do, and it’s weird. Because I personally, Walton Goggins, don’t feel that—I feel it as Venus,” he says. “Venus feels it and recipocates that with her boys—all the guys on the show. She just considers them brothers, like seeing family that she hasn’t seen in a while. They’re so kind and so gentle to Venus. It’s so refreshing. There’s no competition, there’s just enjoyment on all sides.”

Venus, who was introduced in season five and returned in season six, will also appear in the final ride’s 10th episode. As creator Kurt Sutter told EW, “We find out what’s been going down off-screen between Venus and Tig [Kim Coates]. It’ll be our love story for the season.”

Basically, everyone in Northern California needs to watch out, because the boys of Charming are on a rampage. Actually, scratch that: everyone in Northern California minus Venus Van Dam should watch out, because everyone’s favorite transgender escort is back, and we all know that Tig would never, ever hurt her.

“Venus is back,” Coates said. “She’s back. When Walton Goggins and I get to do stuff, the commitment that we both have… He and I just giggle when the scenes are over, at the fun that we get to have in the craziest scenarios. Two married-with-children guys. It’s an amazing time that Sutter has given he and I. I don’t know what’s going to happen with us in the last five episodes, but so far so good.”

TVLine Dishes on Final Season of Sons of Anarchy, What’s Ahead for Venus

From the sound of it, it sounds like many fans will be getting what they want! I can only imagine how this little tidbit below plays out!

Speaking of bonds, look for Tig and Venus (a returning Walton Goggins) to take theirs to the next level. Declares Sutter: “That’s definitely our love story this season.”

Walton Goggins to Return to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ for Season 7

Walton Goggins to Return to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ for Season 7

One of “Sons of Anarchy’s” most popular guest stars is coming back to Charming.

Kurt Sutter, the creator of the FX drama, announced Wednesday on Twitter that Venus, played by “Justified” star Walton Goggins, will return for the show’s seventh and final season.

Venus is a transgender prostitute who had a memorable debut in season 5 and made three appearances since. Goggins, who has also made recent guest turns on the saved “Community,” plays Boyd Crowder in another FX drama “Justified.” “Justified,” like “Sons,” will end after its upcoming season.
